Many Ackroyd's customers are accustomed to Fern Cakes. Bakewell Tarts are just like Fern Cakes, except ours have more almond flavor. We start with a 4" Wick's Pie Shell (contains lard), fill it with strawberry jam and almond cake, and finish it with a layer of handmade icing and toasted slivered almonds.
