Anubis is the Egyptian god of death. In ancient Egyptian religion, Anubis was usually depicted as a canine or a man with a canine head. Anubis compares the weight of the deceased person's heart with the weight of Ma'at (or "truth"), which was often represented as an ostrich feather to determine whether the person is worth entering the realm of the underworld.
