Wild yam, Disocorea villosa, is a valuable antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory remedy. It has been used to ease menstrual cramps and ovarian pain and is also helpful for irritable bowel and intestinal cramps. It has also been used in conditions like arthritis and neuralgia.
